BONE BROTH

Ingredients

  • 1 turkey or chicken carcass
  • Scrap veggies (i have a secret bag in my freezer of cellery and carrot tops, and other veggie scraps including egg shells that i use)
  • 16 Whole peppercorns
  • 1-2″ Chopped fresh ginger
  • 1-2 sprigs of Rosemary
  • 1-2 sprigs of Thyme

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker, add enough water to cover the ingredients by a couple inches.
  2. Set the pot on high until it boils then on low for 24 hours.
  3. Check after 8 or so hours and replenish with more water. The bones will soften and break apart. Do this again.
  4. Strain through fine mesh into jars and store in the refrigerator or freezer. 
  5. Sip or use as a base for soups/stews.
